Massey Ferguson Expands

Subcompact Tractor Line

Published June 10, 2008 - News Release

22.5 Horsepower GC2400, GC2410; 25 Horsepower GC2600, GC2610 Announced

DULUTH, GA – March 2008 — Massey Ferguson® has done more than merely expand their line of subcompact tractors. The introduction of the 22.5 hp GC2400 and GC2410 and the 25 hp GC2600 and GC2610 models brings a whole new level to the current subcompacts offered by the industry in all-around function, comfort, style, convenience and versatility. Massey Ferguson, with over 160 years of experience in farm equipment innovation, now introduces subcompact tractors that look, respond and work like traditional full size tractors while still offering the consumer the agility and affordability of a subcompact tractor.

"We know our customers are serious about the work they are doing, whether it is mowing, landscaping or getting into tight spaces on a house construction job site," says Chris Box, marketing specialist, Compact & Commercial Equipment. "It's why we added more power with the GC2600/2610 and why we've always built serious tractors for this market segment. We've kept that full-size engineering in these new models and made them even better with new styling and an even more user friendly design."

The new styling shares the strong, distinctive look of larger Massey Ferguson 2600 and 3600 Series utility tractors, in which Massey Ferguson has been the category leader for 40 years. The taller hood raises headlight placement for improved views in low light. The dash has been reconfigured to offer more and easier to read, illuminated analog functions for tachometer, fuel and engine coolant gauge.

The new styling doesn't stop with looks or even safety, adds Box. The bulk of the changes to the GC Series are designed to enhance operator convenience. "Our customers told us and their dealers how satisfied they were with the major components like the engine, hydraulics and chassis," he says. "But these are working tractors, and while our customers love the small turning radius and being able to get into tight spaces, they asked for a roomier operator area."

To meet customer desires, the platform on the new GC models is bigger and less cluttered. Foot control access is enhanced with the brake pedal shifted to the left side and going to side-by-side hydrostatic pedals on the right side instead of a rocker pedal. Joystick control of front end attachments, standard on the GC2410, GC2600 and GC2610 models and available as an option on the GC2400 model, allows more convenient control of implements and is integrated into the design of the tractor

"Other changes include putting more space between control levers and more open space around the operator seat," says Box. "A few extra inches makes a big difference when you are operating a loader, blade or other attachments in tight quarters. They simply make operation of hydraulics and the tractor itself easier and less fatiguing."

Operator ease was also key to the redesign of the new CB05 backhoe that comes standard with the new DL100 front end loader on the GC2410 and GC2610 models. The CB05 with its solid-to-the-frame look can be removed in less than five minutes. The new platform is larger, and an extra footstep has been added for easier access. The control box was rounded off with more space between control levers. Both the backhoe boom and the loader arms are curved.

"The curved boom on the new backhoe gives the operator the optimum angle for maximum control at maximum depth," says Box. "The new loader design, like its rugged components, is based on full-size loaders that are factory installed on our larger Massey Ferguson tractors."

"Over the past six years, the GC Series of subcompact tractors have carved out a reputation for strength, durability and control that exceeds the competition," says Box. "While other subcompacts look and perform like bigger versions of garden tractors, the GC Series tractors are simply smaller versions of a big tractor. There is a difference, and with these new models, we have made the difference even greater."
