Posted 05/28/2003I purchased this tractor in April 2001. I ordered the GST version with loaded R4's and a LA482 loader with 66" bucket. I also purchased a KK 60" brush cutter, a Land Pride FDR2572 finish mower and a Bush Hog 72" box scraper. I then added a 65" tooth bar to the bucket. Needless to say I love my tractor. The whole outfit cost me $20,342.00 dollars set and delivered.
As for the tractor I have not been disappointed. It has been flawless in performance and function. The fit and finish is good and after 2 years and 180 hours I have not had a single problem with the tractor. I have read a lot of discussion on GST's and at first I wondered if I had made the right choice. Once I became familiar with the GST operation I was very pleased with the choice. I can shift or use the reverser without using the clutch. When I am in a tight place I can use the clutch for that extra control. I like being able to use the foot throttle to control the engine speed in conjunction with the gear selection to control power and speed. I set my engine speed constant when mowing and tap the brakes to shift on steeper hills and it works perfectly. I do like to mow and brush cut without the front loader and I'm going to have to find a way to add a little weight to the front. Without the loader and with the brush cutter the front end floats a little going up steeper hills. I am very careful about cutting sideways on hills. The center of gravity does seem to be high especially with the loader on. I mow without it most of the time. The front loader has been great. I have dug in soft and hard ground using the bucket w/toothbar. You feel like you are pushing the loader when digging in hard dirt but the tractor itself is not even challenged. I do wish I had gotten the 60" bucket now. It is harder to see the leading edge when I try to level dirt or gravel. I like the larger bucket for gravel though. It has been the most indispensable item I have purchased with the tractor. I have hauled tons of dirt, rock and gravel, dug flat areas for my pool and barn, hauled anything and everything, pulled fence posts, trees and stumps. It has developed a slight hydraulic leak in the left cylinder but not enough to get it repacked. With the box scraper on I can pickup more than I can carry sometimes. I have had the loaded rear wheels to bounce on me. It is a powerful loader.
One last thing about the L3010 size tractor. I started out to purchase the B2410 or B7500. After seeing the extra size and power of the L3010 for not much more money I jumped. I have paid the price for buying the larger tractor. I have had to buy a riding mower and I sold my finish mower to my father-in-law. It is to big to cut my yard after I did all that adding of decks, barns, pool, etc. I didn't see that coming. The other thing is the tire selection. I chose R4's as a compromise. I am currently trying to trade these for R1 ags because since I am not going to finish mow with the tractor I would like the added traction the R1 tires offer. I do spin some on these steep hills, especially when it has been raining.
Overall I believe the reason this tractor is a great seller is it is a great tractor. I really cannot think of a significant flaw. Maybe gauges and seat belt but nothing major. If something were to happen to my L3010 I think I would have to purchase another, although with AG's and a 60" bucket.
