Kubota Reviews / 2001 Kubota BX2200 Tractor
Review by sdsjr3 from Middletown, Pennsylvania

When I bought my BX I never dreamed I'd find so many uses for it. I use it pretty well to it's breaking point and then some. The dealer said my 72" bush hog wouldn't work on it, well, they were wrong. Been using it for 3 years now and have had very little problems with it. The BX itself is showing some wear now after about 340 hours. Most of what has been broke I've been able to fix with no hassles. Some of those items have been Shear pins here and there (no biggee, you'll have this on any tractor). The aluminum bracket that keeps the air filter stabilized which I just fabricated a new, thicker one that will not break. Adjustment links on the 3pt hitch. Been though about 2 sets of them because the hitch simply ain't big enough. Compression fittings in the FEL hydraulic lines. Again, to me that's general maintenance and if your dealer is good they'll fab you a new one on the spot. The FEL control lever housing is not the best and I've had the screw that holds the pivot joint there in place work loose which was annoying. I've punctured the tranny/hydro oil filter because it's in a bad spot. And finally I've just encountered what I think may be a clogged fuel line. Unfortunately Kubota doesn't explain the fuel filters in the manual so you need to either guess or order a service manual. That's annoying as well.

Basically I'm happy with my BX, I just wish it was a bit heavier. But again, when I bought it I never would have guessed I'd be doing the amount of work with it that I am. My next tractor will be a size up from the Sub-Compact BX's to maybe a B series. Either way, Kubota has a great product and you can't go wrong with the BX for typical work around the house.

Date Purchased: 5/2001
Purchased: New
Price Paid: US$11900
Pros:
Handles more weight and work than advertised
Cons: Not big enough for heavy duty work, narrow wheel base makes FEL work tough
