Posted 10/20/2004I bought this tractor when it had 832 hours on it and it now has 1,043 hours on it. In that time the only money I have had to spend on it was the 1,000 hour maintenance, new front tires, and a couple of parts that I broke (not the tractor's fault).
I was concerned that it only had 16 HP when I bought it but it has amazed me how usable that horsepower is.
The front end loader (Kubota) has lifted just about everything I have ever tried to pick up. One cautionary note is that the FEL is strong enough that it will pick up the back end of the tractor if you have one corner of the bucket under something that is too heavy. Kind of scary when one of the rear wheels goes up in the air!
I am very pleased with the performance and rugged construction. If it just had power steering it would be the perfect tractor.
Fuel consumption has been better than I expected, I estimate 3/4 gallon per hour diesel fuel.
I have been using it to partially clear and level 2 1/2 acres of East Texas pine woods so it has seen a lot of "pushing and shoving" of brush and trees.
I have no regrets about buying this tractor but am considering upgrading to a BX2230, mostly "just because" and it would be awfully nice to have power steering.
Date Purchased: 5/2003
Purchased: Used
Price Paid: US$6000
Pros: Plenty of power, hydrostatic transmission, excellent fuel economy.
Cons: No power steering, more power than turf tires can handle.
