Posted 10/23/2004I currently have 224 hours on my 4210 E-hydro and have been very satisfied with it. The tractor came equipped with the 420 FEL fitted with the HD 61 inch bucket, the 60-inch 7-Iron MMM, and a Frontier 72 inch RB. Even with non-loaded turf tires, the MFWD provides excellent traction in deep snow and soft dirt.
The extra money spent for the two additional driving wheels has paid for itself many times over since the purchase.
About 50% of my use is mowing a five acre yard and rough cutting several miles of ATV trails, 15% is snow removal, and the remaining 35% is a mix of landscaping, rock hauling, digging, and backfill work. The 420 loader is well matched to the size of the tractor, my only gripe is that it could use a little more lift height at times.
The 7-Iron deck cuts both grass and overgrown weeds well, but is very heavy and difficult to remove and reinstall, because the lift linkage is complex and it arrived from the dealership incorrectly assembled. I'd like Deere to redesign this tractor so the mid-pto can be engaged without using the rear one also.
Other than a fogging dash panel and a leaking battery that was replaced under warranty before it damaged anything, I have had zero problems with my John Deere. The longer I own it, the more uses I find for my beloved green machine.

Pros: Reliability, ease of servicing, quick attachment of loader, ample power and hydraulic lift capability
Cons: Small factory toolbox, difficulty in mounting/removing MMM, have to engage rear PTO to use mid-PTO
