John Deere Reviews / 2004 Yanmar 4010 Tractor
Review by RalphVa from Charlottesville, Virginia
Posted 11/12/2004

I evaluated the 2210 and 4010 and Kubota BX 1830 and B7510. The JD ergonomics (e.g. mainly pedal placement) won out hands down. Price on the B7510 was about dead on with the price for the 4010. The 2210 was $300 more.

The 4010 has 4 or 5 more inches of ground clearance, cruise control and dual brakes vs. what the 2210 has. I tried the 4' cutter out through some really heavy grass and tall stuff. It didn't strain at all. Figured 18.5 hp is plenty because my 12 hp Gravely could be bought with a 50" mowing deck. I have a 30" bush hog on it that almost never bogs it down. The unfolded ROPS bar clears my garage door by about 1". The 2210 is actually about that higher. Might not have worked. (Both with turfs. Went with turfs because of Gravely experience with dual turfs, dual ags and single turfs with chains.)

Other chores are tossing mulch with the 410 loader and carrying stuff on bucket plus a carryall and/or in the Gravely cart down the 100' high hill to my riparian garden.

Dealing with the 3pt is actually worse than bolting and unbolting stuff from the Gravely PTO. I plan to get a quick hitch for it to handle the LX4 and KK carryall. I'm not too happy with the meager lift height on the LX4 when the top link is adjusted to cut the right height. Lift height is only about 1" higher than mowing height. Back wheel barely comes off the ground. Maybe when it breaks in more it'll improve?
