Posted 01/21/2005Excellent blade for a larger CUT or a utility Ag tractor. Purchased mine, with skid shoes ($1086 total), when I bought a new Kubota L4300. Have used it only for snow removal so far but it's done everything expected with ease.
It arrived without the skid shoes and I first used it without them. Very hard to control bite of blade and, with the blade's weight, very easy to tear up driveway. Shoes finally caught up with blade and I bolted them on myself, very easy job. The shoes made a huge difference. Can now control bite precisely and transition from edge of pavement to turf while plowing without tearing up grass.
To get a clean snow removal job, I found it mandatory to float the blade's tilt when plowing snow. Normally I plow with zero blade offset.
The only time floating the tilt doesn't work is when plowing with blade offset. The blade will wrap up under heavy load with the discharge end digging in and the other end up in the air. Locking tilt to level allows use of the offset feature and still does a fairly clean job.
The blade's weight makes back blading quite effective regardless of whether blade's been reversed . Blade will swing the full 360 degrees while mounted on the tractor. 5 forward and 5 reverse blade angles are available.
Five positions of blade tilt are available. Not sure of max tilt angle, but I think its between 20 and 30 degrees.
Implement will mount on either a Cat1 or Cat2 three point system. Moldboard height is 18", thickness is 5/16" and it has a bolt on cutting edge. The blade length of this model is 83". Blade can be offset up to 45" either side of center, but the range of blade angles available in the direction of offset is reduced when offset is utilized. Besides the skid shoes, tailwheel and end plate options are available.
In summary, this is one tough and flexible implement and will probably survive my abuse and last beyond my lifetime. Happy to have spent the extra money.
