Posted 04/03/2005We purchased this tractor new and have taken good care of it, it has about 1100 hrs now and has not held up well (compaired to my 38 Farmall).
We have had failures in lower links due to bad welds and metalurgy problems. The PTO has crapped out twice (bad gears). One waterpump, battery placement is a joke, poor electrics, fuel guage went south at 250 hrs, front hood latch gets full of junk and jams on regular basis, we've also had problems with 3point hydraulics (cheap linkage).
Currently the tractor has very, very power output and dealer only seems to make it worse.
On the positive side is that it has a nice short turn radius, is kinda fun to tool around the farm with and was cheap to purchase.
The quality just isn't in this product. Friend who purchased the TC29 a year later has the same problems so it isn't unique.
The failed lower link was $280.00 and with the problem clearly a failure due to poor quality metal and a weld that penetrated perhaps a sixteenth of an inch I would have expected a free replacement regardless of the time.
Anyway, we are looking at another NH and are hesitating because of this experience.
