Posted 05/15/2005This is a continuation of my review of Aug. 2004.
In the last review I did not have the plow or snowblower that had been ordered with the BX23.
Well I got them and have been very happy with both. They are easy to attach, though the attachment you mount on the front is heavy it goes on easy. The disadvantage is you have to take off the brush guard and store it for the winter than reattach it in the spring.
The snowblower proformed great, blew snow a good 30 - 35 feet. Disadvantage is the skid feet that are to hold it a certian distance from the surface didn't hold it as high as needed for a gravel driveway, blew alot of stone. The sheer bolts work well as I sheered two of them with branches that were covered by the snow.
The plow works well too. I do recommend you get it with the hydro attachment to angle it from side to side. Disadvantage is you can not lift it high enough , but since the BX23 had no trouble pushing thru 18+ inches and moving big piles the lift distance didn't matter as much.
Did my 50 hour recommended oil and maint. thing. It goes pretty easy except for the engine oil filter and getting oil drain pans to fit under the drain plugs.
One other thing I found is next winter I won't leave the backhoe on, takes weight off the front wheels, makes for less traction and bad steering.
I still rate this orange beast a 5 and thank my wife for helping me get it.
