Other Tractor Brand Reviews / 2003 China Diesel Jinma 200 Tractor
Review by tomcat123 from Coatesville, Pennsylvania
Posted 12/17/2005

I guess the best way to describe the Jinma 200 is that it was really much more than I expected for the price I paid. Bought it at Rural King and drove to Muncie IN to pick it up. Bought off of internet and used RK credit card so 10% off price. If you read the posts on sites such as the CTOA, you will get the crux of owning a Jinma...basically you had better be able to fix things yourself. First problem was several hydraulic hoses and fittings blew leaks which other than being messy were simply a matter of using a wrench to tighten...although I did lose the power steering once because of it. The quick disconnect leaked and replaced that. I used the three point hitch to pull of a bunch of wood split rail fence posts and it worked great. Only problem is that it blew out the 3 point somewhat and leaked down when a heavy load was on it. This is really common and can be fixed by replacing all the seal inside the cylinder. The tractor just stopped one day and quit running. I had no idea where to start so read on internet about the injector pumps having problems so crazy as it seems I drained the injector pump oil and refilled with clean diesel oil and the thing fired up and ran rough for awhile. Never really totally smoothed back out but okay. Probably should have replaced the injector pump unit. Don't overfill the fuel tank or they will drain all over everwhere out of some secret place. Really messy. The original oil that the chinese used had not been drained out of it and must have gauled the bearings inside or something like that. Their lubricants must be drained as they are horrible and will destroy the engine. Although I did get a kick out of the owners manual suggesting I use rain water in the cooling system. Prestone was a bit better I thought. Other than that it worked well for around 100 hours which is about where most people have them now. I needed a tractor with a loader and after pricing a 4 wd jinma with loader I thought it foolish to spend $9000 on one of these when I could have a kubota for not much more. I paid less than 13k for my new one. Let's face it, $3500 is no biggie, $9000 gets my attention. Sold it and guy seemed happy with it. If we could only guess how long these tractors last it wouldn't be so scary, but highest I have heard is 300 or 400 hours and usually clutch is gone by then which is nothing compared to kubotas 4000 hours which is typical. If the engine blew I guess you would have to fix it or buy a new one. Then you would have bought two and could have bought a kubota or deere or something. That is my thought. Bottom line, if you need a cheap tractor and can fix things yourself you ain't going to find anything even close for under $4000. 3 cyl diesel, power steering, turf tires, creeper gears, cat 1 lift, roof with foldable ROPS. Best analogy I can think of: pick up a chinese socket set at Walmart and work on your car. Pick up a snap-on socket set and work on your car. The difference is by the time your done the chinese tool will have cracked a socket or two, stripped the gears, and you will have a broken set with some pieces okay but probably wouldn't trust your knuckles on. The Snap on will be same at end as the beginning. Hope that helps. I am sure some guys love the Jinmas, but for me I prefer a bit higher quality machine. Bottom line is you get what you pay for, as always. Good luck.

Date Purchased: 5/2003
Purchased: New
Price Paid: US$65535
Pros:
This tractor was very inexpensive. I got a lot of work done with it and really was much better than I expected.
Cons: Things don't hold up, quality is somewhat questionable and no idea how long they will last. Basically, dispoable tractor.
