Posted 03/19/2006I'm giving it a 5 only for the value. Sure, it's a basic tractor built on old technology but for half of what a "real" tractor costs, I'll give it a 5. An apples to apples comparison to a "big 3" tractor would probably put it at 3 because it's OLD technology. It simply doesn't compare to a modern state of the art tractor with all the bells and whistles. Of course that s more to possibly go wrong too. Because it's old technology, I can probably fix it when needed after the warranty runs out.
I bought this tractor last fall mostly to be used as a glorified lawnmower. It was also used to level/smooth out a house pad and a few other areas with a box blade. It performed well.
It starts right up, runs well, the 3pt goes up and down and the PTO turns. That's all I need from my tractor.
So, for $6000 I have myself a tractor, box blade, and bush hog. I know I couldn't touch that for anything less than $10,000 in anything other than a Chinese tractor.
I saved a few thousand doing the leveling/smoothing myself. Almost paid for itself there.
I cut my 8 acres once already and it performed well.
My only problem is a slow leak from a weep hole by the transmission which could be simply from overfilling or going up and down steep slopes. This is a covered warranty item, the dealer said bring it in and we'll take a look and fix it. I'm just waiting to see if anything else needs fixing before I take it in. It has a 2 year, 2000hr warranty.
Overall I'm very happy with my Chinese tractor. No, there aren't any cup holders. It's a 50s or 60s tractor made in 2005. I'd buy it again. I have 20hrs on it so far. I'll update or add another review at the end of the summer after putting more time on it.
