Posted 06/03/2006I will do my best to rate the tractor for what is not what I would want for a dream machine.
I have 125 hours on the machine and have used the tractor to its maximum potential, then some. I have yet to use the PTO but intend to within the year. I have a grapple for the FEL and BB and Harrow for the 3 PT.
The Back Hoe is sturdy, well balanced for the machines weight and from what I can tell outclasses agricultural tractor bolt on type hoes by a wide margin. Very happy with the hoe.
After the hydraulic pressures were correctly adjusted the loader has good lift. Any more lift the machine would be unsafe.
The curl cylinders are good size but the linkage on the curl is set up for speed and a large angle of swing, not strength. The mechanical leverage is poor. The curl/dump cycle is way to fast for my liking and not strong enough for working any hard material. Kubota would be far better off repositioning the pins to give more leverage within the range of motion. Strong curl may put a lot of stress on the loader, which I judge fairly sturdy, but in my opinion not a real safety issue as curl work is done at ground level.
The L39 has great hydraulic capacity. The motor power bogs down going into a heavy load, even in first gear. On the other hand the fuel efficiency is good. Machine could have another 700-1000 lbs of steel in it and be 45-50 HP with the same footprint. I would like to see larger front tires. Ground clearance is tight, so mabye larger rear tires with 3" wider track would be better over bad ground.
