Posted 06/08/2006I bought this 4410 Hydro less than 3 years ago and it has about 495 hours. I needed something easy to operate as I am disabled. The dealer said this would do it for me. Never worked it too hard and took very good care of it. The dealer noticed how well it was maintained when I took it for an extremely loud squealing noise and the tractor was not pulling. We found out the input shaft had stripped both the damper and the splines on the shaft. The input shaft was not in the damper all the way, as the splines were stripped just a little more than half way. John Deere does not sell the input shaft separately. I had to replace the whole transmission at a cost of about $4,000 rather than $100-$200 for the just input shaft. The tractor is just out of warranty. John Deere's Internet Customer Service said the Territory Manager may get back with me. I sent them pictures of the shaft not being in the damper all the way. When you buy the best you don't expect to get the shaft!
