Kubota Reviews / 2005 Kubota L2800 4WD Tractor
Review by simie from Sissonville, West Virginia
Posted 08/07/2006

Purchased new April 06.

I recently told my wife that having this tractor is like the internet - I can't remember what life was like before it.

I have 41 acres of WV hills. The reason for the tractor is to clear 8-10 acres of old pasture that has grown up into thick brush and small trees (and big trees, for that matter). Like everyone else, I went back and forth on the purchase (see past threads), and ended up with the L2800 Gear - the most I felt I could afford. I don't have a single regret.

The above price includes the FEL and International BH. I've since added a back-blade. Its simply amazing what I've been able to clear with the BH, and what I couldn't get with that I could get with the FEL (which I thought I wouldn't need - now I can't imagine life without it). My property is steep in places (most places, really), and wooded, so the size of the L2800 has been a big advantage. I only have about 20 hrs on it, but they've been pretty hard hours. I have already managed to bend the tie rods, but it doesn't seem to matter to it - I'll probably get them fixed at the 50 hr. I bent them trying to push over trees by literally climbing the tree. I've also popped the bead on a front tire trying to lift a tree and got everything up on the right front wheel - it couldn't handle the lateral load and the tire came off. Shot of air and it was back to normal. Loaded tires kept me from rolling on that one - barely.

I see a lot of folks saying more power, more power, but while reading those makes me think I should have gone with the 3400, I have yet to run into a limitation on this thing that is horspower related.

Its a simple machine, and I really prefer the gear over HST. Quality is great, although the fuel gauge quit working and always says full, so I have to stick the tank on occasion.
Again, a 50-hr fix.

I'm a huge fan, and would strongly recommend this tractor.
