Massey Ferguson Reviews / 2004 Massey Ferguson MF1429 Tractor
Review by gig from Milan, Indiana
Posted 08/10/2006

I'm impressed with this tractor because it fits my needs. I would've liked the HST but with the usage profile I expect I couldn't see paying the extra $$.
Currently I use the tractor on 9 acres, mowing pasture, loading and spreading manure, grooming 1000+ ft of gravel driveway, light logging, and moving dirt.
A HST would be nice for loader work and manuvering but I only use the tractor a few hours a week so I'm glad I saved the money. Clutch fatigue has not been a problem because of the powershuttle and foot throttle.
The tractor powers a 5ft rotary cutter through 1.5ft high grass and 4ft weeds with ease in 4th gear low range.
Purchase price includes 1466 FEL and R4 tires. There was no charge for delivery.
Very happy with this tractor

Date Purchased: 5/2005

Pros:
Weight, Loader strength, tilt, PowerShuttle, Factory Loader Joystick
Cons: The only con is speed range gap between 4th gear low range and 1st gear high range.
