Posted 01/14/2002In the early eighties, Kubota was trying to gain market share by offering a little more tractor for a little less money than the competition. The L345DT had integral power steering, 2-speed live pto, a four-cylinder diesel, 8x8 transmission, wet brakes, and high-clearance front axle design. Rubber (R1) was 9.5x16 front and 13.6x28 rear. A better package of features than blue or green at that time.
Gross hp was 34.5 with 29 at the pto. It handled a light-duty 6' rotary ok. A 90" finish mower was a little more than it wanted.
The 1720 loader was US made in and not a detachable design. I made a sling in my barn which made the loader removeable - but the uprights & frame stayed on the tractor.
This tractor is still going strong today with no major problems in its life. These older model Kubotas are a good value - they may need some cosmetics but they're still ready do a lot of work.
