John Deere Reviews / 1988 John Deere 750 Tractor
Review by pfoxy from Prospect Harbor, Maine
Posted 01/16/2002

I bought my 750 with MFWD and Ag tires new, with a 375 front blade, a Woods M5 rotary mower and a Howard HR6 tiller.

At 18 horsepower, it has been perfectly suited to my needs and the MFWD has allowed me to get into and out of some pretty hairy places, and do an incredible amount of work. In 14 years and 2400 hours, it has been absolutely flawless. Other than routine fluids and filters, I have not had to spend a penny on maintenance. I've replaced one set of front tires, and the rears, while they have adequate tread left, are weather cracking quite badly and will need replacing soon.

Since I've had it, I've replaced the 375 blade with a 67 loader, which is MUCH more useful. I also have a Woods 650 backhoe, a Woods 6' rock rake, a PATU DC4 chipper and a logsplitter for it. Again, each of these implements have performed flawlessly.

It has been used hard, particularly with the backhoe and the mower, and stood up to it without fail. The last time I checked, I was getting about 2 hours per gallon of fuel at PTO Rated RPM, using the backhoe.

The only reason I would purchase a newer tractor (assuming I could afford one, which I can't) is for power steering and a full synchro transmission.
