Posted 04/07/2002This is the 5th tractor I have purchased in last 40 years. It is also the one I enjoy most for what I am doing at the present time. I still have 2 other tractors. My goal when choosing this one, was to get the smallest air conditioned cab I could find to be able to mow close under trees, and to have my first hydrostatic transmission. I also choose to wait till I could get the model optimized for a front end loader. L4610 has heavier front axle & higher capacity pump along with beefed up power steering.
This is the first time I can remember which I made a major purchase and got more than I hoped for or expected. This tractor is a pleasure to operate (now have 220 hrs) and the LA852 front end loader has the smoothest precision control I have ever used. I have already built about 6 custom implements for the fel which I may use 3 of during a 1 hr seat session. Takes 30 to 60 seconds to change implements.
The ride is rough compared to larger wheel base tractors, so could use a better seat to compensate.
It is amazing what this little tractor can do. It is a 4x4 with R4 tires. I have told some that it can climb trees & walk on water.
The HST feather step transmission (no variable peddle resistance) will be my transmission of choice (if it gives no trouble) from now on, because it make easy work of most everything. I never use the brakes & seldom have to shift gears. Just take your foot off the HST peddle & it stops, get out to change rear 3 point implements, reach in the cab door & touch the peddle to move the tractor 1/4" to make that link go on. Its great.
It would be hard to say I could be happier.
Date Purchased: 7/2001
Purchased: New
Price Paid: US$1
Pros: HST transmission, small comfortable cab w/good view, fel precision, fel quick attach, fuel economy,
Cons: Needs resume on cruise control, little softer power steering, fel loader won't lift as high as larger tractors,
