Your Name: My name is Paul Short

Post Count: 1,382 (#323 of all-time)

How long have you been a member of TBN?
I’ve been a TractorByNet member since July 2008. I found this great site just by surfing the net.

What do you like best about TractorByNet.com?
The wealth of knowledge of TBN members and the willingness to share there knowledge. I also like TBN for keeping me up to date on the latest tractor news.

What type of tractor do you own?
I just traded our 2008 Kubota Grand L 4240 HST-C for a 2011 Kubota Grand L 5740 HSTC-3.

How long have you owned or operated tractors?
I’ve operated tractors most of my life.

What do you enjoy most about tractors?
The thing I enjoy most about owning a tractor is the fact that it makes my life easier by doing the things I ask it to do such as snow clearing and lifting.

How often do you use your tractor?
Our tractor is used mostly for snow clearing during the winter months but I do get to use it at times in the summer if I need to use the forks or lift a heavy item.

Tell us about your property.
We live on 3 acres of land. Along with our home we also have our business, Specialty Repairs and another 1,200 square foot building where we keep the items I collect and restore.

Tell us about your vehicles.
We have a 2006 Ford Focus that’s used daily, a 1993 GMC 4X4 pick up that I’ve owned since new, and we also have a 2012 Ford Mustang GT convertible, a Kubota ZTR, and a Honda GoldWing that we enjoy riding. I restored and customized an old 1984 Toyota fork lift that I posted on TBN.

What sort of modifications or customization have you done to your tractor?
If I answered this question it would take up three full pages of paper. All of my modifications have been featured here on TBN so to see them, members just need to search for “4shorts” and they will see them all.

What sort of tools, attachments or equipment do you use with your tractor on a regular basis?
The FEL, snow blower, and fork attachments are the ones I use most.

What do you like or dislike about the area you live in?
I like the fact that it’s not over populated, but living on an island makes it difficult to get off and is expensive to do so.

What sort of terrain is common in your area?
They call the island of Newfoundland “The Rock” so rocks are a big part of the terrain.

What sort of trees and vegetation are common in your area?
Farmers grow carrots, potato, cabbage… We have Birch trees, pine, maple, and poplar just to name a few.

What’s something most TractorByNet members don’t know about you?
I spent most of my younger life as a heavy equipment operator in a iron ore mining town. I’m most proud of our two sons who are members of the Canadian Armed Forces and my marriage to my wonderful wife of 30 years.
