My favorite coffee percolator of all times was a clear pyrex glass percolator my mother used to have. I'd sit and watch the hot water go up that center glass tube (I'm sure there's a name for it...stem?). I was fascinated to watch the water heat up and suddenly burst upwards into the lid and back down over the grounds. The only metal parts were the filter basket and a metal ring around the pot that held the handle on. If I ever see one of those at a flea market, I'll buy it for sure. I'm easily entertained.
Did you ever buy the wrong grind of coffee for the type of percolator you own? When they came out with drip grind vs. regular grind, you always had to be careful if you had one of those old percolators.
