Eventhough the MSRP was subjective it did give you a starting point. I remember when it first came out back in the 50's. Prior to the MSRP a dealer could size you up and then price his tractor to fit your profile. Example. Some folks won't buy unless they are getting a huge discount. So without a starting point (MSRP) I can build in any discount I want. That is why when I soldcars I tried never to sell new cars. Tghere was an MSRP and my discount couldn't be as big. But with a used car i could price the car at what ever I wanted.

Personally I wish MSRP's were required. I understand you can shop but..... If all the dealers in one area decide to hold the line then the prices is what ever they desire. Especially with brands like Mahindra there isn't a lot of competition in some areas of the country.
