Paul, you are ABSOLUTELY right. About 15 years ago, my brother and I were replacing some rotten fence posts. The hog wire was still in good condition so we thought we would just pry the wire out of the way and drill in new post holes. Bad Idea! All went well for the first 55 or 60 holes, then the auger chattered in one of the holes, jumped out and snagged the hog wire. In less than a second it had hog wire and my brother's leg wrapped together around the auger. Fortunately his leg was only bruised badly and not broken.
He was actually able to finish the project that day. PTO driven implements, in my opinion, are the most dangerous equipment on the farm.
And whatever you do NEVER leave that tractor seat with a PTO driven implement in operation! It seems redundant to say such a thing, but after logging nearly a thousand hours of PTO operation, a person can become over-confident.
