Re: Payne's Hitch Receiver
I think (2000 miles from home, so can't check) that it is only rated at 1,000 lbs. I didn't realize this when I bought it - and was hoping to use it on my 18' landscape trailer (~2000#) and, possibly (but not likely), for my 18' boat.
As best I can remember (I am only 500 miles from home) mine has a sticker stating a 1000 pound limit on it. I took that to mean that there was a 1000 pound tongue weight limit, not a 1000 pound trailer limit.
I would have no problem using the hitch receiver for moving trailers on level ground, and even for applications where the trailer is lower than the tractor (hitch receiver in tension), as long as the safety chains were attached to the bucket.
I don't think there would be any issue with launching and retrieving a boat for instance.
I will never again allow the trailer to be above the tractor when using this hitch.
P.S. I have had no response to my email from Payne's. Why do they bother to put a link to their email on their website, if they aren't going to respond?
