1. Nothing wrong with the Mahindra branded brushhogs, but you can most likely buy comparable quality cheaper.
2. I'd say 5 ft
3. Metal has skyrocketed so you'll get a better deal on older hogs that have been on dealers lots a while. I gave $800 for a 7ft IMC hog with twin tail wheels. I'd say if you go with a bush hog or woods or rhino brand you'll pay atleast that for 5 ft medium duty.
4. I paid $500
