I read that complete article and only have two things to say:

1) Its very easy to bend an axle with that much mass and rotational interia. I'm surprised at lack of damage otherwise.

2) Just because the the guy driving was nicknamed Crash, doesn't mean we all are poor operators. Some of us have outgrown our destructive ways!
