Though I have a 49" bucket, the 53" should work just fine. I've yet to have a problem lifting anything I've put in it, including crushed stone and sawed up trees. The MMM, however, should not be counted on as ballast - it won't even out the weight differencial between front and back like a weight box (or heavy implement) will.

Using high range with a full loader works well enough if you're not trying to go uphill or through ...stuff... The low range has more power for moving big loads, and also won't let you back up too fast into a tree or ditch (if you're working in a tight area).
