Anyway.. I noticed today they had a 70's era ford 3000 ( 3cyl, diesel, PS ) in.. it was priced at 6995... Looking at a comprable hp new mahindra, same hp.. gear tranny and 2wd.. just like the ford.. the new mahindra was only 8995.. kinda weird see the low price difference from the older domestic unit, and the new unit . Anyone else see similar situations at dealers selling more than one line of machine?

i can't compare prices of CNH or Mahindra but i can tell you that my 1978 JD 950 was a little over $5,000 when new. now, one with low hours(900-1300) can command a price of around $6-7,000 and get it with no problem! my tractor has about 1,100 hours on it, and is in GREAT shape for its age and my local JD dealer is chomping at the bit for me to trade it in because he knows he can turn around and sell it in no time while making a substantial profit. now compare my tractor with a current 790 2WD and the price difference is only about $2-3,000 at most. heck, just immagine the price i could get for my tractor if i parked it in the shed, using it sparingly, over the next 20 years. that would make it an antique and the collectors would come calling. i have a soft spot in my heart for old iron, but i think the wise decision for me in the future is to just buy something new since i will be making part of my living with it.
