I have more sharpening tools kicking around than anyone would ever need. For putting the final touch on a cutting edge I like a belt sander. I have 3. They have 1 inch wide belts and are cheap to buy. Two of mine have different grade very fine metal cutting grits. (I have several belts in many grades of grit hanging on the wall) The last one is a leather belt. ( I have several different polishing/cutting pastes I use on it) It really depends on what you are sharpening what kind of edge you need. A perfectly polished edge isn't always best. A rough edge cuts better through meat as it acts like a saw. The belt sander can even be used on curved blades as you can put a curve in the belt from behind as you work the edge.
