At one time, my shifter on the 350-DI was having a hard time going into 2nd and 3rd. I solved the problem by lubricating the shifter location of where it goes into the trans. Apparently over the season rust and dirt had formed within the top of the shifter mechanism. After a couple of squirts of liquid wench, I have not had any more problems with the shifter (12 months later). Hope this helps.
