I can't answer your specific questions regarding extra maint. with Turbo or why the PTO HP is 31 when other similar 40 HP tractors have more rated PTO HP.

I have been a 1540 owner for about two weeks and think it is a really nice tractor. But I have never owned a tractor before either.

I don't know anything but I am starting to learn. One thing is tractors ain't cars you got to grease all kinds of stuff you don't just jump in and drive off.

If you think you need more HP at PTO what about a 1547 or the 1648(is that it?). Probably not that much more expensive.
