Re: MF 165 oil leak You can get the filter adapter through a number of aftermarket sources, as well as through MF/AGCO dealers. What you want is the filter head for a MF 255. (essentially the same engine as a 165, even so with later 255's that have a few more cubic inches) The 255 came with a spin on filter. Then you just buy a spin on filter for the 255, and you're good to go.
Sounds as if you're missing the o-ring that seals the base of the filter canister. I tossed the canister filter in favor of a spin on filter on my '71 MF150 years ago. They're an aggrevation in my book.
