Make sure you're using the right oil. Found this on a boating forum. Someone was inquiring about a motor similar to yours.

"Model # K7514106A,
Serial # 1195553.
Type # XTV 50475A

1976 7.5 Clinton. The X is a K. 32:1 gas/oil, use 2 cycle chainsaw oil. Parts are going to be a problem. Try www.discountmarineparts.com."
