Found it, Ray- apparently the pictures were in the wrong order.
After the wheel gear assembly is removed from the final case, there are "snap ringS" that can be accessed at the bottom from the inside of the wheel housing: "Remove the snap rings to disassemble the final case." (This is in the picture FOLLOWING the seal removal photo, on the next page....
