They should allow for this. When I had my New Holland and was in the market for upgrading the local New Holland dealer here has a tractor obstacle course for say behind their business. It is dirt and grass w/ large dirt and rock piles scattered all around and this is set up for you to take the tractors you are interested in and go back there and try them out scooping dirt, using 4wd, etc... I think this is the way it should be. As far as scrathing the FEL if the have a pile of nice smooth top soil you are not going to scratch the FEL.
