IMHO you don't need hearing protection to shoot 22LR from a 10/22. A 22 pistol, yes indeed.

The action of a 10/22 semi auto will fail to function properly unless you use the specified 22LR ammo. Meaning that you can shoot one at a time if you hand load the chamber through the port.
