Good Afternoon

I was wondering if its possible to change out the engine on BCS 715 from an Acme to a Honda GX200 without a conversion kit.

If its not possible how did the guy in this video do it? As you can see he only ordered the new engine and then just swapped it out with the clutch and the mounting plate and it ran and tilled the garden in the second part of the video. Is that because the 715 is compatible with that engine with stock parts? Or will this person have some major issues down the road with not getting the conversion kit?

He already has the conversion kit in the Briggs. You only need the kit if you're changing out an Acme. The Acme has a short tapered shaft and a 6 bolt pattern. The conversion kit allows a 1 inch keyed shaft and an adapter from 6 bolt to 4 bolt mount.

There IS an option that does not require the adapter and clutch kit. Earth Tools offers a Kohler Command Pro with short tapered shaft. It's a direct replacement to any Acme. Joel pry wouldn't give you much for the Acme (enough to cover shipping), but he has an engine boneyard there where the engines become donor units to keep other engines alive.

How does one contact Joel Pry about his engine boneyard?

Thanks!

Sorry, I use "pry" for "probably" sometimes. "Joel probably wouldn't give you much..."
