Bird, you reminded my "WHY" I went down to get a tax ID number.

Starting in Jan of 2004, you could no longer turn in your diesel fuel receipts and get a refund for the tax you paid on fuel used on the farm.

Before then, all you had to do was save those reciepts and claim the amount you paid in tax on the fuel you bought. The state of Texas would then refund you that amount.

They don't do that anymore, and the only way to get tax free diesel is to buy the red stuff.
