Default I might need to sell my 7710-II

I know this page is not for selling tractors and I apoligize for that and if the moderators feel this is inappropriate then please delete this post.

Here is the situation, as most of you know I recently hurt my back and am out of work for around 6 months. Before I got hurt I had a problem with the 7710-II and took it to the garage for repairs that I thought was going to be around $5k. Long story short, the bill is $13k, I owe $7k on the tractor and I can not afford a $13k repair bill so I have to sell the tractor for $18k unless something happens. I do not want to sell but have no other options right now.

The tractor is in great shape, it has a new short block, oil pump, turbo and I can't remember exactly but when the tractor was tore apart they replaced the pto because of wear. I don't know what all was replaced but I can send copies of the bill to anyone who is interested. They inspected the dual power and said that was in great shape. The tractor has 90% tread on the rear tires and the heat and ac work fine. It also has 6 front suitcase weights (they weigh around 86 pounds each). If not for my current non-working condition I would be trying to keep this tractor.

This picture is of my tractor minus the new engine, front weights and new tires (they are all included though so don't worry). It is the only current picture I have right now. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Delete it? I don't think so. Given your situation, how about moving it to where it gets more visibility.

I figure for this size tractor this post belongs in the ag forum.

I'm sure you know about Tractorhouse.com, might be a good place to sell it and you would get a lot more exposure.
Great looking tractor, sorry you have to sell it.

I would put it on Ebay for a fast sale. Might not be the time of year to do it though. If you have'nt ever sold anything on Ebay before, there are a number of us on here who can help you out.

I don't need to sell it fast and I have never been fond of selling tractors on ebay. I am hoping to work out a deal where I can negotiate down the repair bill and trade in some extra equipment we have (good condition equipment) to go against the bill. I really don't want to sell this tractor and I know the history of it also so it would make sense to keep it if I can work out a deal with my dealer. So far I have not been able to get them to move much on the price of anything though

Robert, what kind of repair could ever be so expensive ?? I think for $13.000 you could buy a complete 7710 2wd in Europe....
Are these tractors such a good trade in the USA, or did your dealer, or whoever did the repairs, fail to warn you that the price of repair was going to be so high that you might think about if it's worth it ?

I have no idea what these tractors are worth, but over here, older 2wd 100hp tractors arent worth much because everyone wants 4wd in that class....

Basically, I agreed to a $5k repair and ended up with a $13k repair. They were suppose to repair the engine and replace the worn pto parts. Then ended up replacing the engine with a short block that cost over $5k for just the engine. Then add the $1300 for the pto work, a new turbo, oil pump and machine shop work for the engine and 60 hours of labor (they actually had more but reduced the hours billed because of how high my bill was). So if you really look at it I got screwed since I told them to go the cheap route and they went the expensive route anyway without my approval. I paid $15k for the tractor, there is no way I would have agreed to a $13k repair. But there isn't much that I can do right now as I don't really want to make this dealer mad as I run all Ford/NH equipment and the next NH dealer is about an hour away. So I keep trying to work things out with them in hopes of meeting in the middle over this.

So you agree to 5K, did they advise you along the way that it was going to be more? Thats a bad situation to be in. If I had not agreeded to anything over the 5K I would be doing some serious talking! Hope this works out for the best.

I actually agreed to less then $5k but figured $5k at most as we were only talking. I didn't get anything in writing nor did I sign anything. I did make it clear that anything else they found that needed to be replaced needed to be ran past me first. Either way I am trying to keep things peaceful unless I am left no other choice. Hopefully we can work something out but so far the best option they came up with is I give them my tractor and they wipe out the bill but I would have to pay off the $7k left on the loan also.

I will get something figured out eventually. Hopefully fairly soon.
