I am still trying to master the plasticulture equipment . I have a buckeye unit. I would love to hear from you about what you have found works and what does not. Please include pics also.
Thanks
Jody

This is an attempt for a firmer bed. I pulled them up and then went back and laid drip tape and mulch.

I thought it was going to be a cake walk. It is a lot of prep and having soil and equipment right. It's gets better every time. I want perfect beds. This year I was very pleased.

Reyer farms;

Was wondering which layer would be the best.
Why did you choose the Buckeye?
There is so little row cropping around here
I know of no-one who has a layer.
Do you know of any used plasticulture dealers/individuals
that might have a used layer for sale?

I went with Buckeye because of their large offering of equipment and options. The Buckeye also builds higher beds with less HP requirement and tractor size. The best value is probably Kennco family farm line. Bedders and layers are just the beginning. Used ones are hard to find and most I have seen appreciate in value. Makes no sense but one taken care of usually brings more than it was purchased for. We have really been thinking about selling ours and getting a larger one for strawberry beds (10-12" high). I will be happy to help anyway I can. I assembled and reassembled ours several times to get the results I wanted. If you don't have light soil you really need adjustment in the pan. Where are you located?

Why would you use a raised bed mulcher vs a flat bed mulcher?

The raised bed controls weeds as well as regulates moisture much better. Raised beds can benefit any crop.

How did you get your beds to look so straight? Is it the buckeye equipment?

Key to straight bed line...keep looking forward! :)

If you turn your head around your going to waiver
