Default Why Can't We Have Stuff Like That?

I was just researching telescopic wheel loaders and found some neat stuff. All in Europe and Asia of course.

Why are we always so far behind?

There is so much stuff "over there" that just makes us look so primitive. It's like, adding ONE remote here is a really big deal!

I know Merlo does sell telehandlers over hear with 3ph which is different.

I think Americans get hung up on "that's how Grandpa did it". The Europeans are definitely more innovative.

Well, you probably can get them.

But you'll notice that when folks on TBN are after a 'tractor' they are usually after a rig that can 'do it all'. A Swiss Army Knife of tractors.

Rigs like that are more specialised and built-to-purpose whereas a lot of people try to use (and abuse) their FEL the same way, then wonder why it gets bent (or worse).

That and the cheapest. A telhandler is already high dollar. Now add a swivel on the whole machine and the end of the boom.

They had little articulating tractors in Europe like Holder, for decades. 3ph front and back, pto front and back, and lots of hyd outlets.

And yet for so many decades, their vehicles were quite primitive (and ugly). I bet they never even had fins in the 50/60s!

Yes I to have noticed the same thing for the last several years, this dont look North American made stuff to me>> Muckleton Machinery PTO Driven Drive Dolly - YouTube Power driven trailers are the best, saves a lot of wear and tear on the tractor.

And what about this, it's what I'd call a true all terrain logging, almost positive this is not USA made>> Alstor 84 pro at Elmia wood 217 (4K) - YouTube

Just amazing equipment over across the pond, but in firewood processors, USA is starting to catch up.

That yellow Mecalac machine is screaming "TIP ME OVER, TIP ME OVER!!!!!". I see no use for it whatsoever.

Firewood must be worth a lot more in Europe. Firewood equipment of that magnitude can't financially exist here.

Often, an importer will bring some of these cool machines to the US, but we all know how
hard it is to establish a dealer network. Look how hard it has been for "second-tier" general-purpose
CUTs, which have a bigger market.

Here is a cool articulated 4x4 tractor with cab and front Cat I 3-pt, with dump bed. Saw it at the World
AG Expo, and will likely never see one in use. It prob costs more than a UTV, but it sure looks
    more useful.

Part of the reason that Europe is so innovative with machinery is that the cost of low-skill labor is
quite high, and these workers are not so easily imported, as here in the US.

Case-in-point: the first time I saw an automated checkout scanner in use was on a biz trip to Germany
    in the late 80s.

I would’ve considered a telehandler if it had a 3pt and pto that was comparable to what I have? I love them, they have great loader visability, the telescopic boom is awesome and they are maneuverable with 4 wheel steer. If it would handle my 15’ batwing and had 100hp with comparable pricing I’d be all over that

    Low cog too
