Am looking for a med. duty, 6' or 7', rotary cutter that can be offset. My total mowing area is not a lot, but it is all broken up in pieces. This means I have lots of edge to mow along. I'm thinking an offset cutter would work good for this.

Rhino is the only one that I have found that matches my needs. It is a rig that allows offset, but also will allow normal cutting. This is apparently new, and not on their website. Any experiences with this or other offset rigs? Thanks.

I've used a Bush Hog SQ84T and liked it. They're offset,2-spindle, medium duty mowers that have been around for some time.

I'm probably going to get the SQ84T, seems like it would be a perfect fit for my TC40. My only concern I had is what the cut would look like because the blade tip speed on them is only 11,500 where on the single spindle the tip speeds are around 14,900.

So far I have a price of $2600 for this unit.

I was satisfied with the results when I borrowed the SQ84T I tried. It left a nice "finish". I was concerned about the blade speed, but my concerns were unwarranted. I ended up buying a Woods BB840 instead. Wish now I'd have bought the SQ84T. It's #1 quality is being relatively light weight for a 7' cutter. Works good on lighter tractors without adding front ballast.

I use a 72" Woods rotary cutter that I often "offset" by shifting the 3ph to one side. I have also done the same with a Woods finish mower. I have never had a problem. Not sure where you are located, but you are welcome to stop by and take a look.

Could a person reverse one of the lower pins on the hog (pointing it inwards instead of outwards), then tension the lift arms so that they are "off" a bit to that same side, and get a bit of an offset that way?

Is there any potential damage I might be overlooking?

It might only be a few inches, but might help some.

Thanks for the help. I think the SQ84T would be a little light for my use. I have a light duty one now, and I am going to sell it before I break it.

What I have looked at in the Rhino line is brand new, I guess. The 84" haven't been manufactured yet. But...the other cutters as well as the offset rig is available, but not shown on their website. Big company, with a behind the times website. Doesn't make sense to me. I got the info from a dealer, and there apparently is printed material available.

The line I am looking at is what they are calling the 200 series. I was after a 7 footer to cover my wheel tracks, but I think, because of finances, I will settle for a 6" (model 272), and also purchase the offset. What I liked about the offset rig was that it is a seperate unit that will fit a number of cutters. This means it can be offset right/left, or not at all. Cost $550 - $600. I like the versatility.

Woods made a model at one time that was designed so that it could either be offset or hitched directly behind the three point. Not sure if they still make it.

I don't see why there would be a problem. I would think you would get about the same offset by having both pins inboard. I know I can get at least a foot of offset with my Woods Bush Hog. I have a Woods 60" finish mower that I can offset enough to cover one wheel on my L3710. The rear wheels are set at about 72".

Just bought the SQ84T for $2250, pick it up next Saturday. Some grand opening sale gone on at a new place near Dallas, PA. My brother stopped by and checked it out for me, said they had one on stock so I called them up and bought it. Don't know the name of the place or exact location yet but they have my CC holding the unit until I can get there on Saturday morning.

Wonder if I can get this into a 5 x 10 landscape trailer with about 12" sides? Maybe if I pull the rear wheels off it will fit enough to get about 15 miles home.
