Can someone identify this sickle bar mower for me? My brother in law bought it locally for $50. He is hoping I can restore it to working condition simply to mow the tall weeds around his pond.

The tab on the end of one of the axles sheered off while trying to loosen the axle to take the wheels off. I imagine this part is obsolete and the tab will have to be welded back on, or just replace with something alltogether different. Refer to the picture of the axles to understand.

I hope someone can help as to make, model, probable year, are there parts still availabe, etc.

It looks to be from the fifties and it is an Oliver sickle bar mower. At that time they actually boted them to a hitch area and they bulted to the drawbar.

It looks to be an Oliver 22-B. The 22-B came out in 1953 or 54. My Dad used a 22-A and later a 22-B. These models were very similar but an obvious difference is the 22B caster wheels have two support arms where the A has a single support arm. Sometimes brochures and users manuals can be found on ebay. These were great mowing machines for their time.

Oliver went to White which is part of the Agco group.
