Rotary Cutter What's under that rotary cutter?

Re: What\'s under that rotary cutter?

On my Woods 6' rotary cutter there is a small access cover that permits you to loosen the blades from above. Be prepared! I just bought a 1 3/4" socket and 19" breaker bar. To that I added about 3' of 1" pipe for leverage. My manual specs the blade bolt torque to 450 ft lb!

On a related note, my efforts to sharpen the blades (with a belt sander) seem to be working pretty well.

<font color=blue>...How do you change a blade?...</font color=blue>

Well, see that access hole in the rotary deck... if you have real small tiny fingers and hands and you're real strong.... /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

or insert a 1 11/16 socket through that access hole - attached to a long lever with a little muscle... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
