I just wanted to get some feedback from you guys.I currently own a 6'Pro Harley power rake and it has the "bars" on the drum right now but they are just about at the point of needing replacement and before I go through the trouble of welding on new bars I wanted to know if anybody has used the rake with the carbide "dimples".I know that I can purchase those dimples and weld them on instead of bars.Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

I have rented one with the carbide dimples and they worked fine, but I have never used one with the bars so I can't give any comparison

It's gotta have Ape Hanger bars, of course! What else would a Harley have /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Oh, and forward controls...

I have owned both rakes and unless you are always working with loose dirt the pro just won't do the job. With the pro I always had to disc or rototill to loosen up the dirt but with the carbide tips it works like a rototiller and let me tell you I work with 99 percent clay and it will tear it up no matter how hard packed it is. I liked the way the pro leveled and raked stone but I had to have loose dirt to make it work right. I asked about doing the same thing you are about to attempt and the people at Glen-Mac did not recommend it so I sold the pro and bought the carbide type. I do not remember what there reason was, hope this helps.budinohio

I have experience with both kinds. The rake with the dimples or studs is definitely more versatile. It will loosen up hard packed soil, aggressively uproot rocks and vegetation. It can also be used to "freshen" gravel driveways.
The "Pro" model with square stock welded to the cylinder can do none of the above but can't be beat on loosened soil.
Glenmac does offer replacement drums for these machines, so you could have one of each. I am not sure of the cost or how quickly the could be interchanged.

Will the Harley rake w/ dimples chew away stumps cut close to ground level? Thanks

Yes, if you beat on them long enough. The dimples are rounded, and do not cut into the wood easily. So they will work.
