I just purchased my 1st real tractor, a JD 2305, with mid mower 62, and FEL, I would like a BH, but I am curious if the JD is the way to go, or should I look at Woods or Bradco, or do they even offer something that will work. Are there any other options.

Thanks

Benny

you have to look at factors like cost, fit, packaging, sub-frame or 3pt mount. For the smaller tractors, the mfg'ers hoe is one of the best options as they will have integrated it with the tractor and FEL. Most small hoe's are 3pt mounted (I am not a fan of them !), but the mfg'ers hoe are normally sub-frame mounted.

Can't hurt to check all of them out. New stuff is brought to market all the time.

People always want more;

1) reach
2) depth
3) dirt per scoop
4) ease of attachment / removal

Best option - hydraulic thumb.

Price is not really a factor, fit and ability is more my concern. IF the JD is the best, sub frame etc, then that is what I want. I want something that will last and work without much problem. Over time I expect the extra cost will be worth the investment. I have about 15 acers, 2-3 level land the rest very Hilly and steep. I will use this tractor to clean ditches, dig out and plant new trees and such, and just keep up the property. I want something for the long haul, that wont stress out the tractor too much, and work well with the whole package. Any and all suggestions will be welcome.

Thanks

One thing to keep in mind about the new 260 BH from Deere is that is was made specifically for the 2305. It is curved boom, has a very stout subframe kit, and has good specs. The only drawback is (just like all JD compact BH's) you have to take the 3-point hitch parts off...but the attaching and removal of the BH is super easy with JD's rockshaft assist mounting system. I would buy the new JD BH, just my opinion.

Benny,

I like the way you think! Sure is fun to "spend" someone else's money when the pocket book is full up! You'll probably have the tractor for the next 25 years. What's a penny or three a day to have good quality equipment that works perfectly togther?

By all means, get the JD hoe. Of all the tractor companies, JD integrates the tractor "package" the best. I haven't looked at that model, but if you can get a hydraulic thumb - do it. It about quadruples the usefullness of the hoe. Picking up brush, piling things, grabing and placing rocks for landscaping, moving logs etc. The list goes on and on.

Too bad you didn't post before buying your tractor, I would have enjoyed spending more of your hard earned $$.

Enjoy!
