Hello, I have been looking for a used 3 point "hoe" and found this one locally. I checked there website and it seems they no longer offer BH's. This one was made in 2000 and looks like it will dig about 6 ft. Also, with welding and fitting skills, Is it a simple matter to convert a "3 point" to a subframe mount?
If anyone has dad or knows anything about these BHs Please let me know, Thanks

I can't imagine a big burly he-man on his tractor and "princess" backhoe!

Check the pins and bushings. You want there to be zero play (perfect). How much play is acceptable is up to you. Pins are expensive and bushings are more expensive due to the labor to replace. Figure $25-50 a pin and $50-100 per bushing. If the grease fittings look like they have never seen grease - that's a bad sign. Look for leaks at the front of the cylinders, hoses and controls. Check the condition of hoses. Very carefully check all the parts, corners, edges, pivots etc for damage. Cracks WILL form over time and need expert repair. $$ Normal Wear and Tear on a hoe is expected, but expensive. Pins, Bushings, hoses, cracks.

With materials, tools and skills you can whack out a sub-frame pretty quick. There have been a few nice ones done and posted on this site in the "Build it yourself" area. Overbuilding is better than under when it comes to hoe's. Even small ones.

Yep...... those are actually made by the same company that made my "Barbie" backhoe.

I used to live in Alberta and ordered/purchased many things from Princess Auto.
The guys down here laugh, but Princess Auto is a fabulous place to buy hydraulic and pneumatic parts. Their very knowledgable and their catalog has a great deal of useful information.
As I said I've been dealing with them for years and I can't say that I ever saw them offer a tph backhoe? Do you have any pictures of it?
I now live in East Texas...and love it. Couldn't take the winters any more.
People here are absolutely fantastic.
Cheers......errr Y'all take care.

They made a purple Barney version too! It sings the Barney song as you dig. Quite annoying really.

I can see our southern friends are upset that the do not have any Princess Auto stores in their neighborhood. All I can say is my wife is very happy the closest store to us is a 3 hour drive. There is no better farm/auto store in Canada. I was told that many of the 3pth implements they sell are made by buhler in Manitoba. I also believe all the implements are sold under the "Power Fist" brand not Princess Auto. Someone may have stuck a Princess Auto label on the BH. Why not just call the Princess Auto and find out if they have any info.

PRINCESS AUTO

Welcome to Buhler Industries Inc.

Nah..... sometimes we just get bored and need to amuse ourselves.

Though i'm unfarmiliar with Princess Auto products myself, i've read many good things about them here.

If there is any chance we could get a couple pictures of the backhoe posted, we may be able to recognize who makes it..... since i'd have to guess it was manufactured by a large maker for Princess.
