I really have two questions here.

A friend gave me a 15 gal sprayer he no longer uses. It the kind you see at TSC. It is a very good sprayer and he actually put a larger pump on the tank than what came with it. I have always used a backpack sprayer so this thing is really going to save me some time.

I need to spray around several buildings and barn at a farm we own about 30 miles south of where we live. I plan to strap the sprayer to the ATV since it will be easier to haul than the tractor and I will be able to maneuver the ATV in around trees and such.

My question is do most of you hook pos and neg to the battery or do you hook the negative to the metal frame?

Someone told me by hooking to the frame you don't risk damaging the battery this way.

Second Question. I have an old PTO fertlilizer spreader that the cone is rusted and I have the frame that is in good shape. I think the frame is just the right size to set the sprayer in with some brackets to hold it in place. So I can use it as a 3pt sprayer around some of the fields and between the rows of the English Boxwoods we grow.

Should I / could I , run the leads from the sprayer to the battery and tractor frame or is there a better way to do this? I have a Kubota 3130 that I will use it on. Will not use it on the tractor but a few times a year. Most of the time it will be on the back of the ATV.

Thanks,
David

Very handy size sprayer. Even full, it can be man-handled if necessary.
I currently leave mine in the bed of my offroad golf cart but used to carry it on my BX. I exclusively use cigar lighter recepticles for power as the batteries are not handy to get at on any vehicle I own.

I have the 25 gallon version with a large pump, and mine would pop the fuse for the cig lighter. So I added some fused quick disconnects to the battery at the rear of the ATV for mine.

Can you get these at Advanced Auto supply? Do you hook your negative to the ATV frame?

I would ground it to the frame.

I bought one of those at an auction that did not come with the wire that connects to the vehicle, it terminated in a 2 wire plug. I found the matching plug and a 12V power plug with an integral switch at RadioShack. Works good for my ATV, haven't used it on the tractor yet. I haven't had any fuse problems but mine has the original size pump.
