Where to buy Cat 1 Hyd. Top Link?

I just found the answer to one of my questions. At Baileynet's site there is a link to detailed dimensional data. That shows their 21 1/2" fully retracted cylinder as being 21 1/2" from the center of one pin hole to the center of the other pin hole.

My factory top link is 17 3/4" from the center of the pin hole to the center of the other pin hole so I guess the Chief would be at least 3 3/4" too long.

Spencer, I bought the Tisco top link and had to shorten both ends to get the proper length.

Seems to be very difficult to find an exact match for some without modification. That Chief cylinder is listed catagory 2. Needs reducer bushings for catagory 1 pins. Jinman is succesfully using that cylinder on his TC45.

For my application the 20" closed (eye to eye) length of the Tisco was very close to the JD 4100 original toplink closed length which is 19 1/2" (eye to eye)

Tisco offers a shorter top link cylinder too. The specs I have for it are 15" closed length (eye to eye) with 5" of travel.

Can't tell ya for sure, but I'm guessin' that the Green Mfg toplink dimension are for the eye to eye length too.

Do you have a link to a site with the shorter Tisco cylinder?

Sorry Spencer, can't help ya out there. No online info that I know of. I had the different specs written down on paper. They came from a Tisco catalog my JD dealer had.

Tisco has a web page but is for dealers only./w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif www.tiscoparts.com

Maybe someone out there has a catalog and could scan the page.

Spencer, I have the two Tisco cylinders and a Tisco valve that I ordered through a Kubota dealer who had a "Tisco/Kubota" catalogue. Apparently they're pretty good products (I believe now owned by Woods), but I would probably never buy anything else from Tisco for several reasons. The top link cylinder had a tiny pinhole leak where they welded the fitting into it (the Kubota dealer paid to have that fixed), there was not a single piece of paper that came with the cylinders or valve (no warranty, no instructions - nothing), and Tisco doesn't even want to talk to a consumer; deals only through dealers. And one New Holland dealer told me they had so many problems with Tisco that they don't sell any of their products anymore.

I bought an Eaton 2x8 at Central tractor (Quality Farm) for $40 on sale, then cut off about an inch. Now it goes from 19"-27", center-of-pin to center-of-pin. I had to put ball-type conectors on both ends, so I just bought an extra, regular top-link which I cut the ends off - I wanted to retain the original equipment /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.
2" is plenty of diameter... heck 1.5" would be enough. The top link does maneuver all the weight on the 3PH, but it's not like it is doing the direct lifting.

I know that CT is out of business, but any farm store should either have it or be able to order it, or you can get them at any of the pplaces the other uys have mentioned.
How were you planning on controlling the link? Are you going to need the valves, or did you already get them with the tractor

I just added 1 rear remote tonight. Originally I was just planning on doing both rear remote kits at the same time but I just can't justify the cost for the second remote. The kit I bought said it would take about an hour. It took my about an hour and a half but that included running back and forth to my work van for tools. After I installed the remote kit I then installed my 2 new sets of wheel weights on the rear tires. Then in installed my second auxillary light (facing forwards). Got all done and went to hook my rear blade back up because we are supposed to get some snow tonight and found a problem. The new lever for the rear remote hits my existing 3 point hitch lever. One of them is bent wrong, so when i go to operate the 3 point it hits the rear remote lever, moving it, and the tractor starts bogging down. Oh well, for now I will have to carefully spread the two levers away from each other as I adjust the 3 point.
