Re: Cat 1 Hyd. Top Link available at?

Gentlemen -- This is real good discussion on the hydraulic top link. I've read previous threads but this gets into technical specs and reference links for purchasing. After looking at web links, I'll decide if this is something I want to try myself or have the local dealer do for me. Thanks again for your contributions.

Man, you've been busy! Sounds great getting all that work done, but what a bummer about the levers. By any chance were you able to get a picture? I'm trying to envision what you're saying.

I'll try to get a picture Sunday when I am out plowing. We finally got some snow here in western michigan. I will also take a few shots of the two lights that I added.

Well guys Leonard at Sheaffer's Town & Country Tractors emailed me that he has a couple sizes available. Two out of the three are close to my original factory toplink but not exactly. As stated earlier my factory toplink is 17 3/4" fully retracted and about 22 1/2" fully extended (eye to eye). He has either a 20" to 28" or a 15" to 20".

Which do you think would be better?

1 vote of the 15 to 20" model

Spence, I'm afraid I'd have to do some more shopping; wouldn't want either of those sizes unless it could be modified to something like 18" to 26".

Spence,

I, too, got an email from Leonard. I agree with Bird, though. I would keep shopping. Also, his prices are about 30-40% too high. Although I am not quite ready to buy, I believe that I have determined that some welding will be required NO MATTER WHAT. I just can't find a cylinder with the right end connectors. I spoke with the guy at www.princedirect.com, and he told me he is trying to get the company to build a cat 1 toplink with 3/4 inch swivel eyes, but they don't have it yet. He recommended a cyclinder that would only require welding the eyes on, and it was closer to $100. Leonard wanted $200+ including shipping. Even factoring the welding, it should be much cheaper than that.

Freedom Hitch has new products which include a Top link cylinder, a lift arm, and a pallet fork device. There are pictures of the first two items on their site. They are sending me more information and I will share it when I get it.
