Kubota 2200
I've been shopping for a 4' rotary cutter for my Kubota BX2200. So far King Kutter's 4' hog looks to be the best value at $495 at the local Fleet Farm stores here in Wisconsin. How does that price sound to you folks? Also I would appreciate any comments and opinions on the quality and design of King Kutters equipment. Thanks!

I just got the same price for a Howse 48" cutter. This is in southern Pennsylvania.
Reckon neither the KK or Howse come with chains at that price (add $100-$150 if you want the chain guards)

I think that's probably right. There are "better" ones built, but they'll cost more. If I were you, I'd buy it.

Compared to what we can buy that for that's a very good price. King Kutter recently purchased Taylor Pittsburgh , our rep. was here yesterday and left pricing and lit. on a new line of implements that King Kutter is making and marketing under the Taylor Pittsburgh name. Taking advantage of all available discounts the cutter would cost us over $500. plus freight.

I just bought a 5' KK rotary for $539 at TSC here in Sioux Falls. The 4'ers were $519. This is the second KK I've bought, I had really good luck with the first one back in Michigan. I don't mow through brush with them, just tall grass and weeds.

I'm not sure about the quality of the King Kutter, my question is, is the 4' cutter to big for the BX2200? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a sub-compact right 20 pto hp? You would have enough power to run it, but if you are going to be mowing on any hills the 4' cutter will make the front end real light unless you have a lot of weight. Have you looked at the BushHog SQ420 a little more pricey but I think there better quality.

The specifications I have on the BX2200 classify it as a sub compact but with 16.7 PTO horsepower
at 3200 RPM's.

Thanks Rich, I couldn't get on the Kubota site when I posted last night. With only 16.7 pto hp this would be at the bottom range of hp for a 4' cutter (15-30 required for a Bush Hog SQ480). I looked at the KK web site and could not find there hp requirerments, but I would guess there somewhere around the same. I think you should stay somewhere around the middle of your pto hp range, eg.10-25 for the SQ420. I think I would also ask my dealer about the KK 40" model rotary cutter.

Solo, I think to a great extent, it just depends on what you'll be cutting. I used a Bush Hog SQ48 for four years on a B7100 (13 PTO hp) and was very happy with it.

Solo,
I see a need for a rotary cutter to cut some areas that I do not wish to subject my mmm to. If I could not get at least a 4' cut I don't think I could justify buying one. I am going with Birds advice and since I will not be cutting anything too heavy will probably buy a King Kutter L-48-40-P.
